Join your community during Indian Creek Festival to create a colorful and creative chalk design. The 2024 Theme is “Walking on Sunshine.”  Prizes are awarded for Child (6–9), Youth (10-13), Teen (14-18) and Adult (19 +), and there will be a non-competitive section for children under 6. Not an artist? Come vote for the People’s Choice Award from 1PM until 8PM the day of the competition and help send someone home with $100!

Pre-registration is free and required. Register here. Winners will be notified by email and will be able to pick up their gift cards in Downtown Caldwell starting September 17th. The winner of the People’s Choice Award will be posted on Caldwell Fine Arts Social Media on Monday, September 16th after 10AM. 

Stop by the Caldwell Fine Arts booth at the 6th Ave Plaza (see map below) for your number and location starting at 8:30am. Chalk art creation ends at 1pm, when judging and voting begin. 

Prizes awarded for Child (5 – 8), Youth (9-12), Teen (13-18) and Adult (19 +). Gift Cards will be awarded for 1st ($50) and 2nd ($25) place. We’ll award one People’s Choice Award ($100). One award per person. Voting for People’s Choice is from 1 pm – 8 pm. Winners do not need to be present to win.

Voting Criteria will include: 

1) Creativity and originality

2) Quality – composition, design elements and color – do they all work well together?

3) Use of theme “Walking on Sunshine!”

4) Overall artistic impression.

Basic sidewalk chalk is provided, or you may bring your own materials. Chalk (including spray chalk), masking tape, brushes, and water are acceptable. No other materials are allowed.Participants may bring a pillow, blanket, or cardboard to sit or kneel on. No canopies are allowed for space reasons. Solo entries only, no group efforts.

No one will be able to participate without an entry form and liability release. Parents of minors must sign for them. Artists 10 and under must be accompanied by parent/guardian or supervising adult.

This is an all-ages event. Please, no nudity, explicit language, commercial advertising messages, business logos, or alcohol/tobacco themes. No words or symbols intended as political statements may appear within the art. The committee reserves the right to deem any entry inappropriate for a family-themed event.
